Anthony Albanese and the Australian Labor Party have no mandate to change the gun laws.
Firstly, firearm laws are state managed, not federal, and for good reason. In my case as a gun owner, I live in Queensland, we have always had robust firearm laws. Queensland is an expansive state, the sixth-largest subdivision of any country on earth. We have significant agricultural industry and invasive species that impact the economic viability of local food production. Firearms are a key tool in their control.
Queensland, and Australia as a whole have extremely low instances of crime involving licenced firearm owners. Most crime that involves firearms is committed by unlicenced people. As they say, Laws are for the people who follow them.
The guns the Islamic Terrorists Sajid and Naveed Akram used in the Bondi attack were accessed via a failure of the NSW and Federal authorities to ensure adherence to the existing laws. It’s entirely their failure, and as a result the punishment of law-abiding firearm owners looks very much like an attempt to pass the blame. More gaslighting from a highly incompetent administration.
Naveed Akram, 24, was a follower of notorious Sydney jihadist preacher Wisam Haddad. He was known to Australia's domestic intelligence agency, ASIO. Yet he was allowed to stay in his father’s house, who was quite unbelievably allowed to acquire firearms. He was not an Australian citizen and there are serious questions as to why he was deemed to be suitable to own them.
The Current Australian Prime Minister came to power in a technical minority with only a third of Australian voting for his party. This was only achieved through a massive taxpayer funded push via social media (primarily TikTok) and an archaic voting system where losing candidates votes are redirected to another candidate.
Perhaps most importantly: almost no gun owners would vote for Labor, or the various partys whose preferences put him in power. The Labor party would be disarming their political opponents whilst governing under a minority. I doubt there would be any level of cooperation with gun owners. the police officers (who are also unlikely to be Labor supporters) would be charged with having to confiscate firearms under very tense conditions indeed. All the while Anthony Alabnese and other Labor party officials would still enjoy armed protection while they sleep. Meanwhile home invasions are on the increase for the little people.
How’s that 4.6 Million dollar beach house with 24/7 armed federal police protection going Albo?
Albanese looked genuinely terrified addressing the public after the attack, not at all appearing as a confident leader in control of a country’s security. Most obvious was his refusal to describe the attack as terror related. Albanese is terrified because he has deliberately allowed antisemitic rhetoric to rise to maintain support in the Arab populated marginal seats in western Sydney. Also of note was Anthony Albanese’s support for a Palestinian State, the desired outcome of Hamas October 7 massacre of Israelis.
I don’t think Albanese is antisemitic himself. I doubt he has any personal convictions beyond a substantial pension and EU job after office. He’s not a real person.
